Ambassador
Michael Bator has been
in the field of Education for 32 years. Currently, Michael
is the Chief Executive Officer/Director of Education
for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board,
which is located west of the City of Toronto, Canada.
The Board educates approximately 90,000 students in
140 school sites throughout the region. Among the broad
range of programs designed to meet the diversity of
the area and student needs, the Board fosters international
linkages and student work experience.
Michael was born in Toronto. He was raised
in a family of eight boys. Michael attended elementary
schools in Dufferin-Peel and his secondary education
was completed within the region. He attended and graduated
from St. Michael’s College at the University of
Toronto and the University of Caen in Normandy, France.
He received his Masters Degree in Education from the
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University
of Toronto. He is married and has three children.
He is particularly interested in the promotion
of the Arts and the integrated use of Technology in
our classrooms, as well as volunteerism within our communities.
Michael believes that our local community must tap into
the richness of the diversity with which we have been
blessed and ensure that our students become global citizens,
sensitive to the needs of the international community
with a commitment to servant leadership. Michael believes
strongly in the translation of personal belief statements
into practice. Leadership is not exclusive, it is rather
invitational and inclusive, available and accessible
at every level in the organization. He believes that
leaders have an obligation to demonstrate exemplary
practice throughout the organization and the communities
in which they live.
