Bill Hogarth is a recognized leader in education, an advocate for students and for public education. Bill has a profound belief that educational leadership requires a commitment to fiscal and program accountability, to partnerships and community involvement, to collaboration and building leadership capacity in others. His passion for student success is equalled by his drive to seek alternatives and innovative ventures that increase the relevance in student learning.

He has traveled extensively throughout Canada and the United States, bringing to his position as Director, at the York Region District School Board, a breadth of experience acquired from educational systems throughout North America. Bill is leading a school board that serves communities that are growing significantly in complexity and diversity. 

As the father of two children in York Region schools, Bill Hogarth has a vested interest in education. His commitment to education has been recognized recently, when in 2001 Bill earned the Educator of the Year Award from the University of Toronto Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International.

The centre of Bill's outside interest revolves around his wife Gail and their two daughters. He reads everything he can get his hands on, and enjoys the theatre, movies and gardening. He is also an avid history buff with a strong interest in politics.
