Steven Young has been in the insurance claims business since 1964. He started as a claims examiner and was promoted through the system as a road adjuster, supervisor, superintendent, manager, vice president, & senior vice president. Currently, he is employed in the independent adjuster field as a senior adjuster.

Steven was president of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association (CICMA) and served in various positions leading to president in 1979. He was on the original executive of the Toronto Professional Chinese Insurance Association and served as president in 1993/1994.

He was the first Chinese Claim Supt. at State Farm Insurance Co., which is the largest automobile insurance company in North America. Steven was also the first Chinese Claims Manager and Claims VP in Canada.

Growing up in Toronto as a kid, Steven participated in every team sport that was available and found sports one of the great equalizers. It was always a nice feeling to do well on the diamond, rink, court etc beating persons who, because of social or financial status, assumed they were "better". Defeat on the playing field is a humbling experience and leads one to respect the ability of the victors.

Steven is active in golf and squash and also tries to keep up with his five grand children in their initiation to sports.

Steven has a lovely wife, Elsie, who is always by his side and ready to stand up and be counted.
