Alex Yuan, president, founded A&L
Computer Software Limited in 1982, a computer software
company in Richmond Hill. With the release of the A&L
Medical System in 1985, Alex has worked closely with
the medical and health care communities, including medical
laboratories throughout Ontario, the Ontario Medical
Association and Ontario Ministry of Health. In 1994,
A&L release its document-imaging program to include
a variety of business venues. This can allow a business
to run a virtually paperless office and to electronically
route all document anywhere in the world.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in Biology, Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
and Computer Science and was awarded a Doctor of Science
(D.Sc.) degree in 1994 by the University of Toronto.
In 1995, he served as a Vice Chair for the Yee Hong
Centre for Geriatric Care for two years. He was a director
and treasurer of the Medical Software Developer Association
of Ontario (MSDAO). In 1995, he was named "Business
Entrepreneur of the Year" in Richmond Hill. In
February of 1998, the Association of Chinese Canadian
Entrepreneurs named him "Entrepreneur of the Year".
In April of 1998, Alex was selected to the Team Richmond
Hill Business Ambassador Program. In July of 1998, he
was awarded the Outstanding Business Achievement Award
by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Alex is also a member
of the Ontario Job and Investment Board - Chaired by
the Premier of Ontario. He is the secretary for CARYE
board of the York Region Board of Education. In February
2000, Alex was invited to join the Ontario Medical Association
as a Cabinet Member of OMSBF. In October 2001, the Chinese
Canadian community named him as the "Chinese Canadian
Legend".
During the time A&L Computer has sponsored
a hockey team in Richmond Hill, Alex has observed the
benefit of organized sport to the community. Alex created
the S'port for Kids Foundation to start to build a solid
base of financial support for amateur sport in Canada
and inspire young people through sport.
