| Why was The S'port
For Kids Foundation formed?
The S'port For Kids Foundation was formed in
Richmond Hill when some concerned citizens, who
recognized the importance of organized sport for
children, realized that a number of sports activities
were under-funded and at risk of shutting down.
In particular, it seemed ironic that the sport
of figure skating, that put Richmond Hill on the
map with the rise of its hometown figure skating
medallist Elvis Stojko, was badly in need of funding.
Local parents also voiced how expensive it was
to support their children's activities and
expressed concerns over the quality of coaching
and officiating. These concerns were amplified
when news items reporting sport-related child
molestations were frequently aired. These deep-seated
feelings in the community prompted the formation
of The Foundation.
Why should I help?
Organized sport builds character in the participants.
The S'port For Kids Foundation's mission is to
promote wholesome values in young individuals
through organized sport. This organization will
facilitate their physical, emotional and social
development by providing guidance and/or direct
funding to organizations or individuals who demonstrate
they are in need.
The S'port For Kids Foundation firmly believes
that the values instilled in our youth through
sport, will result in model citizens, better employees,
and eventually lead to stronger communities across
Ontario. |
How great is the
need?
Local Richmond Hill sports organizations have
expressed the difficulty of raising funds in both
the corporate and grass roots community.
When our corporation gives
our support as either a founding
or sustaining member of this organization, what
can we expect in the way of exposure?
Your corporation would be associated with a foundation
whose focus is building stronger communities through
minor sport. The goodwill and direct promotional
opportunities that this association can bring
could be substantial. Your corporate name, your
goods or services would be exposed to a grassroots
community that would quite probably be your target
market.
If not directly reaching your specific market
as a founding corporate member, you could reach
a wider community through your goodwill. For example,
funding earmarked for coaching clinics would expose
the founding corporations to first the parents
who would get the direct benefit and then to the
community at large who see the screening and proper
training of coaches as an
important social responsibility across the province
- if not the nation. |
